Ameldine Dachiroudine has spent three years working as a volunteer nurse at the El-Maarouf National Hospital of Comoros in Moroni where he cares primarily for surgical patients, but has a special interest in paediatric deformities.  Currently, in consultation with ADFA, an Australian NGO, Ameldine is working towards setting up the Comoros Clubfoot Initiative, a program focused on treating Congenital Talipes Equino Varus, a common childhood foot deformity.

He is also an active researcher in Comorian health issues (GURESC), and a radio talk-show host at Radio Tonic Fm (TsembĂ©hou-Anjouan) where he broadcoasts programmes dealing with health and education.  He participates as a University of Comoros student mentor, and works in the community as a public health campaigner, as well in the hospital with visiting NGO missions.

Ameldine holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Comoros. After completion of the Washington Fellowship, Ameldine plans to promote health and education throughout Comoros, by instituting a screening and treatment program for club foot and an education program to prevent other treatable childhood diseases such as Rickets.
